Professor John Galloway is Head of the Dental Team Studies Unit and Clinical Research facilitator at the Eastman Dental Hospital (EDH). He is also the Oral/ Dental lead for CEL and an associate of the Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine at UCL. Professor Galloway is part of the Oral and Dental Speciality group, which is one of 24 Specialty Groups which provide national networks of topic-specific expertise. He works with the Oral and Dental group to ensure the successful delivery of research studies within the field of dental and oral health and the management of dental and oral disease.
It has been more than 8 years in which Professor Galloway has been the Oral/ Dental lead for UK Biobank (UKB). He prides himself on ensuring that the oral/dental research community is taking full advantage of its involvement as he believes UKB is a uniquely rich resource for investigating why some people develop particular diseases while others do not. Professor Galloway works with UK Biobank to deliver research intended to improve the health of the future generations. UK Biobank supports a diverse range of research intended to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the promotion of health through society. Currently Professor Galloway is aiming to develop a research network/ alliance of dental schools/ hospitals to help move oral/ dental research into that of mainstream healthcare.
